Expert review of Spanische Reitschule
These amazing white horses perform regularly throughout the year in the most beautiful baroque riding hall in the world. Only stallions go through the many years of hard equestrian training and although these animals are born black they gradually turn white. Usually at a gala performance you'll see the fully-trained ones. Weekend shows can be fully booked, so a ticket for the regular morning exercise might be a good option, although it's the younger ones – those of a darker colour – that you'll see most of during training. In July and August the stallions take a deserved break, and the first couple of weeks in July the mares come to town with their foals. I love watching these cute creatures frolicking with their mums, their antics are hilarious. One of the events I recommend for kids of all ages.
Regular guided tours include a behind the scenes look round the riding school, and give an interesting insight into the history of the stables. The tack room is quite something – hand-made saddles and riding gear of the very finest, made in Switzerland.
Ticket prices for performances range from 23-116 euros, for morning exercise the cost of a ticket is 12 euros.
