Expert review of Grand Bazaar
Perhaps the original shopping mall, the centuries-old Grand Bazaar is a hectic, historically important complex of thousands of businesses, many of them today touting overpriced souvenirs to tourists, but still home to many fine craftsmen as well. The maze of more than 60 streets and alleys is nearly impossible not to get lost in, but that’s the best way to stumble upon its hidden corners, where traders buy and sell foreign currencies from around the world and shopkeepers slip off to the building’s own mosque during prayer times.
