Best for Fun - Expert review of Brighton Pier
When it first opened in 1899, Brighton’s Pier (originally called the Palace Pier) was an instant success. Much has been altered or reconstructed since then, but the all-out holiday spirit remains, with plenty of giggle-making rides and attractions. As well as offering heaps of prizes and clouds of candy floss, it also has fantastic coastal views.
Brighton will always mourn the loss of its older, more graceful neighbour the West Pier, whose skeletal remains can still be seen out to sea opposite Regency Square, but the unassailable sprightliness of Brighton Pier is some consolation at least - especially as it’s not half as tacky as you might imagine.
Entrance is free; but rides and attractions are individually priced.
